Raising the spirit, Boot Hill group taps into roots

Hayes Kelman has an optimistic attitude and an eye to the future.

The 24-year-old Sublette, Kansas, farmer believes the crops he plants and harvests can provide added value—and in his case bring cheer to others.

Kelman is one of three investors, including his father, Roger, also of Sublette, and Chris Holovach of Scott City, Kansas, who are developing Boot Hill Distillery in historic downtown Dodge City.
